The Comfort's Fund Sub-Committee

The Comforts Fund Committee is a Sub-committee of the Benevolence Committee and organises a traditional programme of events throughout the year as follows:

Spring Party
The Comforts Fund Committee commences the year with a Spring Party which, as usual, is held at Freemasons’ Hall, Bridge Street in April.  The Chairman, together with other committee members, officers of the ELMC and their partners, usually greet some 90 guests.  A number of residents from Hewlett Court are also invited. The afternoon commences with a tea and biscuits reception followed in the early evening by a most enjoyable formal three-course dinner. During this time relaxing background music is usually played with entertainment after dinner.

The Beneficiaries are used to enjoying a pleasant and entertaining evening at their Spring Party.

Summer Holiday
The Committee traditionally arranges an Annual Holiday, news from which is reported on our News Pages.

Autumn Day Out
The Committee continues their yearly programme with an Autumn Day Out in late September / early October.

Christmas
The Comforts Fund Committee has, for the last few of years, taken advantage of an invitation to the Thwaites Empire Theatre, Blackburn to enjoy the annual pantomime. This is a joint event with the Comforts Fund Committee, Young People’s Committee and residents from Hewlett Court. In 2010 the pantomime was Mother Goose and refreshments were arranged at Bridge Street where both younger and older beneficiaries come together.
