2011 Annual General Meeting of the ELMC - 19 September 2011

Formal Business of the AGM

After the formalities of approving previous minutes, the Annual Report and Statement of Financial Activities for the Year ended 31st December 2010 were received. Philip Hollinshead, the Honorary Treasurer, presented the statements and the Chief Statutory Auditor, Tim Elston, gave the Auditors' report. The Annual Report and Accounts were adopted.

Eight Directors were then elected. Philip Price replaces Derek Thornhill on the Board (who will become Deputy President in November following his appointment as Deputy Provincial Grand Master in November) and Roger Flitcroft was welcomed as the new Honorary Secretary. The Auditors, Members of the Committee of Benevolence, Community Fund Committee, Hewlett Court Management, Comforts Fund Subcommittee, Young Peoples and Investment Committee were then appointed.

Paul Rose (left) expressed that we have a range of talent, skills and abilities within our membership. If there are brethren who are able and who would be willing to work on one of the committees we would be pleased to receive nominations for the consideration of the President. Those nominations can be made to the Honorary Secretary, Roger Flitcroft roger.flitcroft@btinternet.com. Following this request in 2010 one appointment was made to the Young Peoples Committee.

Paul went on to thank all those who have served on the Board - he couldn't have wished for a better board. John Farrington has been a fantastic Secretary whom the President, RWBro Jack Price, was absolutely content with. John has taken part in every part of the work of the Charity. Paul then went on to thank Derek Thornhill for all the work he has done and is going to do as Deputy President.

Paul also expressed his appreciation for the work of Julie Ward and Karen hall, who conscientiously discharge their duties to maintain the high level of service that the Charity provides and whose influence over the operation of our residential home at Hewlett Court has been very positive. They are a great asset.

Finally, Paul thanked all of those brethren who support our Masonic Chairty, not only by the contributions they make, but also by the work they do and the money they raise through Lodges and Chapters, for the benefit of people and good causes in their Areas. Freemasonry does so much to make a difference to the lives of the less fortunate in our communities. Paul also reminded the brethren that the Community Fund is still here to support worthy projects with which Masons and their Lodges are involved in.

The President of the ELMC, Jack Price, has made it very clear on a number of occasions that during the next few years, the Provinces two Charitable priorities are firstly the EL 2015 Festival on behalf of the RMBI and then the ELMC. ,

Following the AGM the brethren retired to enjoy wine and soft drinks in the adjacent Derby Lodge Room.
