BURY CANCER CARE
Philip Mountford with Stanley Gilbert
WBro Philip G Mountford, PSGD, Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the Bolton and Bury Districts, took great delight in visiting the Bury Cancer Care Support Group on Wednesday 9th April, 2009. There he met Stanley Gilbert, the Centre's General Manager, and took even greater delight in presenting to him a cheque for £1500 from the ELMC Community Fund.
The Grant, awarded through Prince Edwin's Chapter, No. 128, after an appeal made by EComp Howard Dalton (one of a number of Freemasons and their families who have benefitted from the Centre's work), is for sound proof screens for use in the Centre.
The Centre offer all kinds of essential support for cancer patients, their immediate families, and their carers. This support includes complementary therapies, counselling, a good information centre, and regular workshops on topical subjects for sufferers which give help and advice with several aspects of coping with cancer and general well-being. For more information you can visit their website at www.bury-csc.org.uk
The Centre was one of 18 Charities from Bury and Radcliffe who attended the The Bury District Charity Night in March this year. The Evening was a resounding success - distributing over £13,500 to local non-masonic charities and good causes. It was here that Bro Mountford pledged to visit Bury Cancer Support to find out more about the excellent work that they do.
