ELMC Annual Holiday
2 June to 9 June 2007
The Comforts Fund Committee organise a traditional programme of events during the year one of which is the Annual Holiday which takes place during the first week in June.
The Annual Holiday for 2007 took place from 2 to 9 June to the Ambassador Hotel, Llandudno. The Ambassador Hotel is a traditional family run hotel situated on the Grand Promenade.
Fifty three widows and Brethren of the Province attended the holiday along with the ELMC Manager Mrs Julie Ward and her husband Charles.

The guests were treated to a day outing on Thursday 7 June to the island of Anglesey. The trip commenced with a visit to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch when translated into English, means "The church of St. Mary in a hollow of white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and near St. Tysilio's church by the red cave" followed by lunch at the Trearddur Bay Hotel.

Some additional photographs of the holiday.

The following photograph include Mrs Eileen Thompson along with the Actor Colin Baker (ex Dr. Who) with whom she used to act and sing before he became famous. He was appearing in Llandudno the week of the ELMC trip, and invited Eileen and others to the show. Because of the well wishers after the show, he couldn’t really talk with Eileen as it was too busy, so he made arrangements to go to the Hotel the following day, which he duly did. It is some 30-40 years since Eileen worked with him, but they have remained in contact, and speak with each other on a regular Basis. Eileen Thompson’s husband was a member of Caledonian Lodge No. 204 in Bridge Street, and was one of the founder members of the Provincial Quartet.

On the return journey to Llandudno the group stopped off at Beaumaris a well known historic town on the Menai Strait.
The holiday was a huge success and everyone had a fantastic week enhanced by the absolutely glorious weather.
The Welfare Office has already received many cards and letters of thanks.
