The Committee of Benevolence is the principal grant making committee of ELMC and, apart from its own activities, oversees the activities of both the Comforts Fund and the Young People's Committee.
The Committee, which comprises membership from all Districts within the Province, meets on a monthly basis and is responsible for receiving petitions. Following careful evaluation of these petitions, grants may be awarded to cover both emergency situations or to provide support over a year.
Where appropriate the Committee also co-ordinates the preparation of a petition to the relevant national Masonic charity. Beneficiaries' situations are monitored through the officers of the Lodge/Chapter Almoners.
