The Community Fund was established as a result of the Grand Master’s address made in April 2006, as a vehicle to reconnect Freemasonry with our local communities, and discharge that responsibility of Caring for those in Need.
Information for Applicants
Lodge / Chapter Charity Stewards must complete application forms for grants made by Lodges / Chapters.
District Charity Stewards must complete application forms for grants made by Districts.
The completed form must be submitted to the District Chairman and APGM, before submission to the Community Fund Secretary.
Charities and good causes that the fund will not support:
• National Charities / organisations (except local autonomous branches).
• Grants to individuals.
• Grants to animal organisations.
• Grants to political parties.
• Grants to organisations supported by UGLE charities, unless there is a local need and the grant will be at the complete disposal of the local branch.
• Grants purely for a place of worship that involve money only e.g. organ, roof repairs.
• Football shirt sponsorship.
• Grants that do not benefit those living within the geographical boundary of the Province.
Charities and good causes that the fund may support:
• Applications may come from a Lodge or District.
• Applications do not have to be for registered charities only; they can be for good causes.
• Applications that include the active involvement of Freemasons.
• Projects, which are already being supported by a Lodge / District, but require additional funding to complete.
Communications
All key communications to external media and internally must be approved by the Chairman or ELMC Secretary.
Responsibility of the Charity Steward and Almoner
The key responsibility of the Charity Steward is to generate funds, donate to charities and other good causes and generate involvement of brethren in Community Projects.
The key responsibility of the Almoner is the care and, where required, the financing of the care for brethren and dependants.
