Young People’s Committee Outing - May 2008

The ELMC Young People’s Committee arranged their May outing to Eden Camp, for fifteen children, parents and committee members.

The event took place on Tuesday 27 May; setting out to Eden Camp we ate our meals in the NAAFI and split into several groups to wander around each hut at leisure. The huts of the “Trenches” and the “Submarine”, full of their sounds and smells went down a treat with everyone. Helmets, Flags, Posters, Bullets and Tanks were among the items bought from the gift shop as well as Cinder Toffee and Nougat. Finishing up with ice creams before the return trip.

The event was rounded off with a lovely meal at Bryan’s Fish and Chip Restaurant at Headingly before returning to Freemasons’ Hall in Manchester.

The event was enjoyed by all and sure to be re-visited in the future.

Young People’s Committee Spring Outing 2008

The ELMC Young People’s Committee arranged their first outing of the year to begin with the Spring Outing to the Blue Planet Aquarium and the Boat Museum at Ellesmere Port, for fifteen children, parents and committee members.

The event took place on Wednesday 26 March; setting out to the Blue Planet Aquarium we ate sandwiches on our arrival and split into several groups. Spending ages at the touch pool with the sting rays, watching the sharks through the tunnel and seeing the divers in the deep pool was all fun and exciting.

After spending a fortune in the Gift Shop we got back on the coach, which took us to the Boat Museum. We split into two groups for a guided tour, where we went on a narrow boat, told where everyone would sleep and what the children were expected to do in those times – much to the shock of a few children.

The event was rounded off with a lovely meal at the Brewers’ Fayre at Stonecross and a quick play in the park before returning to Freemasons’ Hall in Manchester.

The event was a success and enjoyed by all.

Young People’s Committee Christmas Outing 2007

The ELMC Young People’s Committee arranged for twenty children from the Province, accompanied by twenty adults [Committee members and parents], to attend the Christmas Outing for 2007.

The event took place on Friday 21 December and all the children arrived excited and looking forward to the evening which commenced with a Christmas meal at Freemasons’ Hall.  The meal was excellent and enjoyed immensely by all the Children; the party was catered for very well by Mr Riedlsperger and the Hall Company Staff.

After the meal the Children were taken to the Opera House Manchester for the showing of Cinderella.  Each young person was provided with a bag of goodies to enjoy during the show.  The Pantomime was very enjoyable and all the children were laughing and singing [Oh yes they were!!!].

The children departed with a selection box and with the Committee’s best wishes for Christmas and the New Year.

The Committee has received a number of thank you letters from the children.

Young People's Committee Outing Wednesday 15 August 2007

This summer the Committee organised a trip to Camelot following the success of a previous visit, much to the pleasure of many of our children.

The Committee booked tickets for the theme park on Wednesday 15 August 2007. The children from the Province were accompanied by a number of parents/guardians and Committee members.

The children arrived at The Freemason's Hall, Bridge Street, Manchester at 9.45am. At 10am the group set off for Camelot. The weather was not great at the beginning but it soon cleared up and even the sun shone!

The theme park was excellent with great rides including the new Knightmare, Whirlpool and Jousting show! The children had so much fun.

At the end of the day the group retuned to Manchester via Smithills Coaching House in Bolton. Many enjoyed a roast beef dinner and giant Yorkshire pudding finished off with fudge sundaes! Yummy!

We arrived back at Freemasons Hall at about 8.30pm.

What a fun day out!
