The ELMC Annual General Meeting

Stanley House, Audenshaw, was the venue for this year’s AGM of the ELMC. Atrocious weather and a major accident which had closed the M60 at Simister Island were probably the reasons why attendance was somewhat down this year. However, those that did make the meeting heard a presentation about the East Manchester Community Boat Project by WBro Jim Strudwick, the Treasurer and a Trustee of the project. The project is one of the many non-Masonic Charities   that has received support from the Grant Making Committee.

The formal business of the meeting then followed with the President of the ELMC, Sir David Trippier, welcoming all present and inviting WBro Chad Northcott, Chairman of the ELMC to chair the meeting. After receiving apologies, the minutes of the last AGM held on 22 September 2016 were voted on and approved by those present.

The next business was the presentation of the Statement of Financial Activities and Balance Sheet by the treasurer, WBro Jonathan Brownson, followed by the Auditors Report which was given by Tim Elston of Percy Westhead and Company.  The Resolution to Adopt the Annual Report and Statement of Financial Activities was duly voted upon and approved. The Chairman thanked Jonathan and Tim for their reports.

The election of Directors of the ELMC was next when one change was announced. WBro Ken Davies MBE, the outgoing Provincial Grand Charity Steward, would be replaced by WBro Kirk Mulhearn, Provincial Grand Charity Steward Designate. The Chairman gave grateful thanks to Ken Davies MBE for his very much valued service during his time in office.

After the Auditors for the ensuing year had been formally appointed, the Secretary, WBro Philip Price, presented the names of all those taking office as members of the various ELMC Committees. The Chairman thanked all those who had agreed to take office and likewise thanked those who were now retiring from office for their valuable work without which the Charity could not continue. He then handed back the chair to the President.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Sir David thanked all those who work on committees and help with social functions and events. The meeting was closed by Sir David who invited all present to enjoy wine and soft drinks, together with canapés and snacks.

After Chairing the Meeting Chad Northcott relaxes with Karen Hall and Julie Ward who work tirelessly in the ELMC Office at Hewlett Court to ensure the efficient running of the organisation.
