On Monday 8th June 2015 the Bury District Charity Steward WBro Stephen Holland, ProvGStwd, attended Lady Wilton Hall in Simister, where it was his great pleasure to present Mr James Holt, the musical director of Besses Boys Band, with a donation of £800.
Besses Boys Band are a second section brass band, established in 1943 and have been making music for over 60 years.
They have musicians as young as six years old playing in the junior band.
Over the years the band have entered and won many competitions. They are a credit to there Chairman, Mr Neil Matthews. Whilst there WBro Stephen Holland had the delight to listen to the band rehearse and can confirm that they truly are a high quality band.
The donation from the ELMC Community Fund will assist in providing uniforms for the band’s upcoming tour in Cornwall this August.
We wish the band all the success for the future and inform you that the band can be commissioned for local and national events.
