Following on from the grant awarded in support of making the Community Boat to be electrically powered, the boat was recently re-launched. WBro Ed Beaman attended and sent this report.
‘I attended the opening of the boat at Ashton Under Lyne. The President and Chairman met me and in the President’s speech ELMC and MCF were thanked for their donations. The Lord Lieutenant, then went outside and cut the ribbon opening the boat for use. A number of the VIPs then took a short trip on the boat. I had to leave at this point but on the boat’s return people could have had a short trip along the canal.
One of the boat’s crew was a Manchester Mason from Albatross Lodge.
