TLC Bears for Burnley General Hospital Urgent Care

The Burnley & Pendle Freemasons delivered more TLC Bears to the Burnley General Hospital to be handed out in the Urgent Care Department for all the Children who arrive with injuries and other medical emergencies.

The TLC Bears initiative was originally started in 2001 by the Essex Province and has since rolled out nationwide covering over 200 hospital Accident & Emergency and Urgent Care Departments.

Importantly, the TLC Bears are a very welcome comfort for all the children at an often difficult and upsetting time, the staff using them as a calming aid for the children and as a reward for being brave. The Bears are also a vital tool for the medical staff to explain procedures to the children using the bears as a demonstration model.

Yvonne Roberts from Age UK and Jackie Boulton, along with other Urgent Care Staff, were delighted to pose with the TLC Bears to show their appreciation for such a great initiative. All the staff at Burnley’s Urgent Care Department are really grateful for the continued support from the Burnley and Pendle Freemasons, which is only made possible by the hard work of all the District Brethren and the continued generous support of grants for own East Lancashire Masonic Charity.
